The main difference between ceramic bearings and steel bearings
1. Friction:
Ceramic balls are rounder, lighter, harder, and smoother than steel balls because they are not porous. This reduces friction and energy loss, allowing your equipment to run more efficiently (and for longer) using ceramic ball bearings. Because of their relative smoothness, ceramic ball bearings require less lubrication than steel bearings.
2. Corrosion:
Steel balls corrode over time, and ceramic balls do not corrode even when perfectly lubricated. In fact, in terms of corrosion, the service life of ceramic mixed ball bearings may be ten times that of steel bearings.
3. Bearing seat ring:
Ceramic balls have much lower elasticity than steel balls, and keep this in mind when considering upgrading to ceramic bearings. Over time, dents in the raceway will grow larger, eventually leading to spindle failure.
